He finds himself diagnosed with a rare case of Synesthesia -- allowing him to feel sounds, and taste colors. Together, they seek to investigate his mysterious inability to perform, and what results is a psychological adventure that explores all the situations of a Middle East expatriate seeking identity and comfort in a foreign land -- an intensely personal journey into the melancholic, humorous, fantastical, philosophical, and spiritual.

"Shady, we understand that Sense of Need took 4 years to make. What was the most interesting challenge logistically speaking?"

"Sense of Need was, for me, truly a labor of love. As an independent film, we found that we didn't have the luxury of a second take -- everyone on the set was notified that there was a limited amount of film stock, but the cast really came through with first rate performances and it gave the film an an extra edge, but I'll leave it to you to find out. "

"And we noticed that the movie is described as a "Farouk and Abla" production"

"Yes, this movie is dedicated to my parents, who supported me in monumental ways to go to the States to study at the Academy, and who are my continuing inspiration to create art that will foster global peace and goodwill. "
